As autumn has started, the change is notable around nature through which we can learn about the temporality of this life. When the temperature drops down, the color change on leaves begins to appear. The leaves have completed their task for their very short span of life. As we are entering into the last quarter of this year, let us be mindful about the transitory nature of our life and be convinced about the duties we have been entrusted. In the Bible many metaphors are used to stress the brevity of our life on earth. It is like grass which flourishes in the morning but is withered by the evening, like a shadow which passes when the sun comes out, and like smoke or mist dispersed by the wind. Today’s world scenario teaches us that we can not depend on anything in this world which can give us protection during hard times. All man made protection fails during natural calamity; no guarantee is assured for our money in the market; uncertainties prevail about the coming election and the aftermath. Amid all the ups and downs of life our only security is in him who is eternally there before the birth of the mountains and creation of the earth (Psalm 90:1, 2).Let us put our trust in him and be optimistic about a bright future which we can build up with him.
Our Annual Convention is arranged from 24 - 26 October. Prayerful participation of everyone is requested so that it could be a time of spiritual rejuvenation. October 26th Sunday will be the Harvest Festival Day. As is previous years, one day income of every working member of our parish is expected to be brought before the Lord as our Thank Offering for the day. The role of Sunday school in the edification of the Kingdom is always pertinent. As we observe World Sunday School Day on November 2nd Sunday, let us pray for the activities of Sunday school world wide and ours parish in particular. May all those be for the spiritual uplift of the coming generation. When the nation observe thanksgiving in November in the traditional way, let us thank Almighty humbling ourselves in his presence for all that we enjoy in this country.
As the advent season is approaching, let us prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus in a unique manner. Your co-operation is expected in the carol singing and service program so that together we can glorify God for his redemptive act in history. Since this is the last quarter, make sure your participation in all the collections for the year and don’t be indebted to God in giving.
Yours in Christ’s Service
