Carmel Mar Thoma Church

It is with a profound sense of loss that I write to let you know of the passing, just a short while ago, of His Grace, Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios, Metropolitan of the Malankara Orthodox Church entered his eternal rest in Newcastle, UK. Bishop Makarios had met with a road traffic accident and was critically injured a few weeks ago, as had been announced. He had been hospitalized for the same. It is a loss to the Orthodox Church and the diocese in USA , where he was the first bishop. Many would remember him when he had come to our church recently and participated in the funeral service of the later Rev. C.A. Mathew, who he was related to.

As a parish, we are saddened by this loss and also express our sympathies to Robin Mathew and family, as they go thru this difficult time. Please keep them and the Orthodox Church in your prayers.
