Picture of Carmel MTC, Hudson, MA

Brief History

The Carmel Mar Thoma Church had its humble beginning at Boston in the early 70's as a prayer fellowship. The parent church officially recognized the Boston gathering of the faithful as a congregation in 1981. The first diocesan bishop was Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Athanasius and the vicar was Rev. Abraham Thomas. The congregation registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a legal entity in the year 1984 with the name Mar Thoma Congregation, Boston with nine families taking formal membership. The church building was dedicated in the year of our Lord 2001 A.D.

Vicar's Message

Summer 2008

We have entered in to the second half of the year. The time flies and the seasons are changing in rotation. This part of the world is enjoying the warmth of the sun and the cool of the summer rain. Greenery and vegetation are seen everywhere. What a difference the rain makes! When it falls, we can hardly recognize the landscape where earlier, there was not a blade of grass to be seen. Green grass carpets what had previously been bare earth. What a transformation!

Mother's day

The coming Sunday, May 11, 2008 is Mothers' Day and we plan to have a special 'GOURMET MEAL' for the occasion to honor all the mothers and mothers-to-be. This meal is being specially prepared (with love) by a number of the men in our parish. Rumors have it that among the many items is grilled kabobs, etc. A lot of planning has gone into this and we are on course for a banquet under the watchful supervision and immaculate planning of 'Master Chef Samuel Thomas' (Ponnachayan).

All of you are requested to participate in this event for purposes of honoring the 'mothers', encouraging those who are spending an enormous amount of time and effort to put together this event, and because the meal is on target to be an extravaganza. A token of contribution of $10/- per family will be requested, purely to defray the costs.

Birth Announcements

The parish is delighted to share in the joy of newborns to the following families:

Santhosh Mathew and Sumi (from Ashland ) who were blessed with a son, Noah Mathew, on April 17, 2008

Pradeep and Laila Jacob who were blessed with a daughter, Emma Shreya Jacob, on April 28, 2008

We are happy to welcome them to the parish family and thank God for an uneventful delivery in both situations.
