Carmel Mar Thoma Church
The Carmel Mar Thoma Church had its humble beginning at Boston in the early 70's as a prayer fellowship. The parent church officially recognized the Boston gathering of the faithful as a congregation in 1981. The first diocesan bishop was Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Athanasius and the vicar was Rev. Abraham Thomas. The congregation registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a legal entity in the year 1984 with the name Mar Thoma Congregation, Boston with nine families taking formal membership. The church building was dedicated in the year of our Lord 2001 A.D.
Dear Members of the Carmel Family,
I join you in thanking God for bringing us safe to 2010.
Ps.118: 8-9 says
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to put confidence in mortals.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to put confidence in princes.
As we go ahead with our busy life in the new year, stop for a moment and think where we are going to put our trust in ? Investments, friends, job, position,s etc are important till the moment you think these will give you the ability to stand the odds of life!
Wishing you the very best in the New Year
"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift !" (2 Cor. 9:15)
In Christmas, God assumes the most deplorable condition of human life. With no place to be born and then born in a manger and fleeing as a refugee. These identifications were for a true reconciliation, a reconciliation with the mundane realities of human life. We see in Christ a God who has known all the pains of human life. That is the perfect GIFT, a gift par- excellence, the quintessential example of a perfect Gift.
We will be having a Holy Communioun Service in Malayalam at 6:00 AM on Christmas Day. Our Christmas Carol Service will be at 5:30 PM on the same day. Looking forward to your presence as we celebrate this joyous season.
